On Thursday April 16 the opening of the first urban space with furniture Mento was performed. The space is located within the premises of No. 61 Highschool from Cerro (Montevideo). It is 5 benches designed by Sofia Orellano, winner of the 2014 edition of the Competitive Fund for Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in the design category. The opening gathered art school students of highschool, teachers, personalities and project managers. One of the objectives of the project was to create opportunities for exchange between the community which in turn unify the urban landscape. In that sense a space with furniture Mento was also designed in the city of Durazno with 10 benches which will be inaugurated soon.
In the generation of everyday cultural spaces they were referred to social aspects, based on ergonomics and in finding positions that favor relaxation time of rest. In consideration of the strong vandalism that currently exists, a strong and durable system was used to generate a space where converge the design, safety and recreation users.
Mento cover furniture based in the generation of an urban break. It is a versatile design, easy to install, move and produce, where resources are optimized in terms of sustainability, not only the material, but also of social experience where the user finds time to rest or reflection in the hectic city.
